
Allie – Founder/CEO
As the adult mentor and CEO of the youth based 501c3 program, Wonderland BookSavers, Inc., Alison has worked with numerous partners to deliver books, educational materials, clothing, agricultural technology and medical supplies to children and families around the world. Recipients include, among others, the Oglala Lakota reservations in South Dakota and the Kyamaganda Community Development Organization in Uganda. Alison was previously the President of the Board of the Pequot Library Association in Southport, Connecticut and received the Hoyt O. Perry, Jr. Lifetime Service Award for her 20 years of volunteer leadership, including raising the funds for dedicated special collections facilities and initiating educational programming for Title I schools. She is a homeschool mom to eight children and one Rottweiler.

Joyelle – Chief Operating Officer
Joyelle’s interest in marine biology brought her from the arid Midwest to the Northeast coast where she worked for over 15 years as a member of the Mystic Aquarium Marine Rescue and Rehabilitation Team. Joy continues to assist with injured seals and whale beachings along the New England seashore as a Marine First Responder. Joy’s career activities include over 20 years in health and welfare consulting for large employers with 10 years focusing on substance use and mental health programs and strategic initiatives. She also has extensive experience in startup operations and scale and is beyond thrilled to move into the COO role at WorldTutors. Joy’s work in the mental health arena has led her to understand the positive impact that community service has upon self-esteem, maturation and psychological stability. She believes that community service provides a unique opportunity for individuals to improve their confidence by becoming a driving point of success in the life of others. Joy enjoys playing tennis and attending barre classes. She has two children and a Labrador. Her family loves going to the beach and sailing during the summer months.

Reid – Founding Director of Secondary School Engagement
Reid is a senior high school student attending Salisbury School. He has been collecting and donating books to support literacy since elementary school and is the current president of the Wonderland BookSavers, Inc. This past year, Reid joined others in funding and providing a clean water well and bio-digester latrine system for a village in Uganda. Most recently, Reid assisted with the collection and loading of a shipping container with 80,000 books destined for Zululand and another 20,000 books headed for South Africa. Reid is very interested in all areas of academic study, in particular: English, math, philosophy and astrobiology. Reid loves sport and athletics, and spending time with his siblings and friends.

Brooks – Founding Director of Media and Technology
Brooks is a senior college student currently attending Bucknell University. He has been interested in philanthropy his whole life and understands the value of both giving and receiving assistance. As a board member of Kyamaganda Community Development Organization, Brooks has spearheaded educational opportunities for Ugandan children, and worked to assist in the funding and creation of a local maize milling production center, among other agricultural and economic development projects. On the academic side, Brooks is interested in both philosophy and film, especially when studying them in conjunction with one another. On the non-academic side, Brooks is on the Bucknell Club Rugby team and he is passionate about music.

Roberta – Director of Development
Roberta was born and raised in Brazil and came to the USA as a young adult where she attended college and graduate school. Roberta worked in volunteer management and development, as well as training and event planning for Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo prior to moving to Northern California where she continued working in volunteer management and development at the Tech Interactive Museum. She has enjoyed biking, swimming, marathons, triathlons and cross country ski races throughout the globe. Following her position as Parent Ambassador to John’s Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program, Roberta is currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Education, specializing in Gifted and Talented Education, through Johns Hopkins University. Concurrently, she is the Vice President of the Stanford OHS Parents Association and is mom to two teenage children and one fluffy dog, Luna. Roberta is grateful for the many mentors along the way who inspired and motivated her to explore the world and pursue her dreams and education.

James – Advisory Board
Dr. Glimm has made outstanding contributions to shock wave theory, and to the theory and computation of turbulence. He is a leading theorist in a number of other areas, including operator algebras, partial differential equations, mathematical physics, and applied mathematics. Prizes include: the Dannie Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics in 1980, the Leroy P. Steele Prize for a paper of fundamental importance in 1993, and the National Medal of Science in 2002. Dr. Glimm was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for two years (1963-1964, 1965-1966) and named a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) in 2009. In 1984, he was elected a Member of the National Academy of Sciences and was President of the American Mathematical Society from 2007-2009.

Noah – Advisory Board
Noah is a freshman at University of California, Santa Barbara. He enjoys helping students grow through learning, as he has done through the Nashville Project, where, for the past two years, he has tutored students in Nashville, Tennessee. Noah tutors students in English, math, history and science. Regarding academics, his interests are focused on the humanities, business, history, languages and philosophy. Noah is fluent in three languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish. Outside of school, Noah is a fan of almost every sport. He is most passionate about, and competes in tennis. He also plays the piano, has performed in numerous recitals, and has been a musician since a young age.

Nascha – Advisory Board
Nascha Martinez grew up in Colorado and now lives in the equally gorgeous Pacific Northwest. Her passion for poetry was sparked at a young age. She was an American High School Poets topical winner and an Honorable Mention in Poetry Ourselves written competition. She and former classmate Amirah Khan have published their first book of poetry: Moratorium: An Adolescent Anthology.
Not only a lover of poetry, Nascha also commits much of her time to volunteer work as a tutor, TA, and Kitsap Youth Court participant and was recently honored with the Presidential Gold Medal of Volunteer Service for her efforts. Outside of volunteering, work, poetry, and school, she loves to do anything outdoors and has recently developed a considerable interest in podcasting.

Iris – Regional Team Leader
Iris is a junior at Los Gatos High School. She enjoys thinking about new ideas and discovering how the world works, especially by studying English, science and philosophy. She is passionate about helping other students develop their understanding of their class material. Outside of school, Iris dances and has performed in professional performances of The Nutcracker Suite Ballet. She also plays the piano and sings.

Oliver – Regional Team Leader
Oliver is a senior at Los Gatos High School with a passion for teaching and mentoring others. He loves watching his students progress. Through his financial literacy lesson plan, he teaches third to sixth graders about the basics of finance, covering essential topics like how to Earn, Spend, Save, Grow, and Give their money. Oliver is currently building an eight-part lesson series that aims to equip students with the tools they need for financial success. Outside of teaching, Oliver is an avid football fan. He also enjoys golfing and has played varsity tennis every year in High School, he recently has also begun coaching it. Beyond sports and academics, Oliver loves to spend time with his family and friends.

Andrew – Regional Team Leader
Andrew is a junior at The Harker School. He likes exploring new things, whether it be through volunteering, academics, or other opportunities. In school, Andrew is interested in connecting with other students through after-school events and spirit rallies. He loves being active with his school’s extracurricular activities such as clubs and sports. Academically, he is especially interested in the subjects of mathematics and physics. In his free time, Andrew likes playing tennis, walking his dog and creating music.

Cara – Regional Team leader
Cara is a junior at Greens Farms Academy, currently spending the year in Paris. Along with tutoring, she enjoys volunteering at food banks, elder care facilities, and organizations that support women. Over the past two years, she has been tutoring students in English, Math, and French. In school, Cara is involved in the Community Service Board, Model UN, and Varsity Tennis. She also leads the Asian Affinity Group. She is a driven student, especially interested in math and science. Cara is very passionate about connecting with people and encouraging diversity. In her free time, Cara loves to draw, play with her dog, and spend time with family and friends.
